How Did I Get Here?

From a very young age, I thought I was destined to be a scientist. I thought I would go to Columbia University, and work for NASA. I worked myself to to my mental break, for a dying dream. Until one day, it clicked, and I realized that I wanted to be free from the confines of STEM. What was the point of continuing something that didn't bring me joy anymore? I wanted to be free to be happy. So I changed my whole life.

Almost 10 years ago, I took a trip to Portland, OR, where I fell in love with nature photography.

Over the next few years, I transitioned into portraiture. Partway through my time in the Bachelor's program at CCA, (during COVID) I did a self portrait project focused on loving my body. This propelled me into my nude/semi-nude work, and also what I call "body photography," which I consider a form of portraiture.

I have my own past trauma with body image and being happy in my own skin. My work is for myself, just as much as it is for all of you. As this quest developed, I became determined to showcase the beauty of the human body. I want to challenge the beauty standards, and bring real, perfectly imperfect bodies into the light. Body positivity and self love are the main messages that I want to portray. I want to show people that their bodies (and ALL bodies) are beautiful.

Over the pandemic it was hard to expand my work, and explore the beauty of San Francisco's diversity. All of my models so far are friends whom I adore. I will be shooting again in the near future, so I hope to meet all sorts of amazing people!
